Our current intern, Aaron Jaffe, just earned a prestigious Panavision New Filmmaker’s Grant. Are you an accomplished writer, journalism major, or technologist – a water maven with solid traditional and multimedia reporting skills, curiosity and superb communications talent? WASHINGTON -- A global survey of senior sustainability practitioners – from business, civil society, and academia – points to a leadership vacuum so serious that critical issues related to sustainability are being ignored or inadequately addressed by both government and business leaders.
The joint SustainAbility/GlobeScan survey, announced February 27 in Washington during the “What Next for SustainAbility” forum, identified drivers and obstacles to the global sustainability agenda. A panel forum moderated by Circle of Blue senior editor Keith Schneider further explored implications of the data for business, governments and stakeholders.

DAVOS, SWITZERLAND -- Circle of Blue co-presented the session “Designing Water’s Future” at the World Economic Forum. Presenting with J. Carl Ganter, Circle of Blue director, was Brian Collins, chairman of Collins Design Research, John Elkington, founder of SustainAbility, and astronaut and Circle of Blue board member Dr. Jerry Linenger. The session convened global executives, thought leaders and strategists to explore how 21st century tools --including online journalism, new research methods and communications thinking -- can overcome conflict, spur innovative solutions and galvanize global communities. We hope you've had a chance to check out "Reign of Sand," our report produced in collaboration with the China Environment Forum at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. This front-line journalism about the global reach of desertification in Inner Mongolia has been widely excerpted in the U.S., Europe and Asia, cited by mainstream news outlets and research organizations. The Council on Foreign Relations calls it a "must read."
