The first film (Westworld) was charming and interesting but this is just a mangled mess of a film. The answer is yes, and whilst we're not shown any (this is a family film after all) both the robots and some of the guests discuss it openly. The acting is over the top, the scenery is mundane, and the concepts have been done before and since, with much better results. Instead the filmmakers produced something entirely original that stands on its own with no prior knowledge of the first film necessary to the average viewer.

My god this plot is much better in my opinion, the acting was about the same maybe better then the original "Westworld" maybe. The resort itself is not really all that impressive. Eyes are very important to this film's aura. As it should sound, buy Futureworld is much more sinister in some ways. A lot of the film succeeds because of good performances from Fonda, Danner and a few others. With the introduction of this footage so early in the film, we're suckered into expecting fulfillment of a promise that is never delivered. Quot; a la Darth Vader at the end of Episode 3. In doing so, the filmmakers are telling us that our desire to see the Gunslinger return is really of very little importance. The opening credits promise the return of the gunslinger Yul Brynner, but he only shows up briefly in this one in a bizarre dream sequence featuring one of the most obscenely hideous dance numbers ever put on film (Yul lassos Blythe and they spin around in a circle. The costumes were pretty stupid for the medical people.
But the snooping duo begin to uncover an underhanded plot that's as hackneyed as it is stupid. The ending was also a sore disappointment and very un-70's like, I must add. Almost none of this was used. Watch the entire film of Futureworld online.
Suffice it to say that it's not only the robot technology that has improved at Delos. There are certainly glimmers of the old "Westworld" charm to be savored, but its ultimately a tease for the real thing. But once we hit the plane to Delos (name of the resort), the fun begins.
There are some decent action scenes, a weird fantasy sequence that is notable only as an excuse to have a few moments of Yul Brynner returning as the Gunslinger, and the effects seem a step up from the original; and I for one always like chase sequences set in steam tunnels and big underground piles of machinery, which are pretty much the last third of the film, so I was kept going and could overall recommend this. Even so, the film is short at an hour and forty-five minutes, and that's good enough. S still a pretty good sequel. The robots ( the ones without faces that is ) look like left-overs from 'The Six Million Dollar Man'. It's boring and bad and positively hideous. If you're a fan of "Blade runner", you will love this one. So the film shows how Chuck and Tracy try to find a way off of Delos, while on the run from their duplicates ordered by Schneider to kill them. The last half hour is fun as Danner and Fonda are chased by their respective doubles. There are two fairly decent supporting performances from Hill as an administrator and Margolin as a helpful repairman. Fonda is never more than adequate as the crusading reporter, and Blythe Danner, as his sidekick, lacks any kind of screen presence. Delos has reopened following an extensive make-over, now incorporating 'buy Futureworld' in which people can play act at being astronauts. But ,although the movie borrows from other works (notably " invasion of the body snatchers" (1956,1978,and another remake in the nineties) for the last sequences ,it's quite entertaining. While points can be awarded for the fact that it tries to do something new with the format, it ultimately proves the adage that less is more. Everything was pretty awesome except when Tracz runs down the stair to tell Chunk that she had a bad dream. And like Mars has snow and all. While some of the original charm is lacking, they more than make up for it with an emboldened story line, and better effects. Duffy, who seems quite the diplomatic sort, but is overshadowed by the villainous John P Ryan as Schneider. For a second I almost thought the plot was going to say "Robots" which came to my mind as lame/cliché. Years after the failure of Westworld, the same company have regrouped and are planning to open the same theme park again but improved and totally safe.
Not that Westworld wasn't wonderfully disturbing, but the dilemma in that film arose through relative innocence, with man attempting to better himself and his environment, only discovering too late that his manipulations were backfiring. There's over an hour of this before anything really happens. Because what the robot says only meshes a little bit with what we know about ourselves and our own capabilities I mean honestly today if the runners of Daxos came out with a type written statement that they had replaced all our human leaders cause they thought we where going to destroy ourselves and there sorry. Whereas Westworld presented its satire of Disney-like escapism on a more surface level, Futureworld is concerned with the reality under the public façade. Not as enjoyable as Westworld, but still slightly interesting.
If nothing else, this movie is notable as Yul Brynner's final film appearance: he reprises his role as the Gunslinger from the original. If they did not leave the earth, then how did they get back after the entire mission.
The story is basically a retread of Westworld, even down to the inclusion of Brynner. That said, "download movie Futureworld" does have its merits (apart from reminding us that the original was far better). The fact that it serves no discernible purpose in forwarding the plot only adds further insult. Heffron's direction is tidy with his cruise-like pacing and interesting visuals to match. Almost from the start, the film is mindless and tedious, but as it goes along, it gets more and more illogical. But then it cuts to a protracted chase sequence, which pays lip service to Yul Brynner. Also when there getting the plot explained by there tour guide he says there replacing the humans to save the planet and help Delos. While his introduction pre-credits would lead you to believe that Ron would be a major character, he's quickly fazed out about halfway into the film, his blatantly unamusing "southern hick" act not achieving any of the laughs required. So the wooden Fonda tries to shoot himself from long distance, and my God, he's not scary at all - just a rather silly old man in huge glasses and a suit with flared trousers. The fact that you've been watching a film that has such a small budget that Delos is controlled by 1960s oscillators unconsciously tells you that they won't have the budget to do a convincing split screen.
Not that Westworld wasn't wonderfully disturbing, but the dilemma in that film arose through relative innocence, with man attempting to better himself and his environment, only discovering too late that his manipulations were backfiring. There's over an hour of this before anything really happens. Because what the robot says only meshes a little bit with what we know about ourselves and our own capabilities I mean honestly today if the runners of Daxos came out with a type written statement that they had replaced all our human leaders cause they thought we where going to destroy ourselves and there sorry. Whereas Westworld presented its satire of Disney-like escapism on a more surface level, Futureworld is concerned with the reality under the public façade. Not as enjoyable as Westworld, but still slightly interesting.
If nothing else, this movie is notable as Yul Brynner's final film appearance: he reprises his role as the Gunslinger from the original. If they did not leave the earth, then how did they get back after the entire mission.
