Qingdao consumed 16.6 million metric tons of coal in 2011, more than twice as much coal as the city consumed in 2000. Researcher Lilian Jingyang and Circle of Blue’s senior editor Keith Schneider, the author of the new report, collected this and other water, energy, and air pollution data from the Qingdao Statistical Bureau.
