Tamil Nadu now contends with disruptive and rapidly changing meteorological conditions. In a three year period that ended in 2017, Chennai and its neighboring cities were beaten up by a typhoon, a mammoth flood, and record heat and drought that depleted wetlands, reservoirs and rivers.
