Two underground laborers install a temporary cap on a section of new eight-inch diameter ductile iron water main in preparation for installation. The cap will be removed after the pipe is installed and ready to be connected to the next section of pipe. The cap prevents debris from entering the pipe and protects the pipe end from damage.
