Like Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh’s large man-made reservoir that is used solely for recreation, this reservoir near the small village of Parchh is comprised mostly of captured rainwater. However, unlike Sukhna Lake, this reservoir is used for irrigation needs during the post-monsoon season. At dawn, music can be heard resonating from a nearby Sikh temple on the hill. (Image © J.
