In Haryana, the Shivshakti Rice Mill’s staff of 35 does almost all the work between midnight and 8 a.m., when electricity is made available by the state grid. That is because, as in Punjab, Haryana’s homes are supplied with electricity from late afternoon through the evening, as well as most mornings, while farmers and industry get power during the night.
