Southern California’s behemoth pipeline nears completion
August 20, 2008
SAN BERNARDINO, California - Nearly four miles of a 44-mile pipeline that will eventually provide Southern California with water is expected to be finished on Wednesday. According to the San Bernardino Sun, a $9 million German tunneling machine should soon emerge from beneath the San Bernardino mountain range.
“This has been an incredible journey, an 11-year, $1.2 billion project,” Roy Wolfe, manager of corporate resources for the utility, tells Mercury News. The pipeline, called the Inland Feeder, should distribute water from Los Angeles to the U.S.-Mexico border.
