Prize-winning film Trouble the Water wins festival accolades

TRAVERSE CITY, Michigan – Trouble the Water, winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2008, documents the front lines of climate change in a cooperative production that takes viewers from the imminence to the aftermath of New Orlean’s Hurricane Katrina. An amalgamation of one couple’s heroic home-video footage with the filmmaking of Tia Lessin and Carl Deal (Fahrenheit 9/11 and Bowling for Columbine), the movie captures a 9th Ward community’s journey through and beyond the eye of the storm.

The Los Angeles Times calls Trouble the Water “a remarkable story of community resilience in the face of government indifference.” And the New York Times reviews it as “one of the best American documentaries in recent memory.” Rolling Stone calls Trouble the Water “superb in every department.”
